Growing a few rows of Grenache Blanc in California is rare enough. Transforming this time-honored grape’s honeyed taste into a wine with clarity and minerality is rarer still. But that is exactly what we’ve done.
“Strangely enough, our Grenache Blanc was actually inspired by Viognier. Without proper handling, Grenache Blanc can easily go to honey. But, it’s all about the complexity. Hand-harvested at first light, the fruit was placed in the press as whole clusters. After gently pressing to tank, the juice was chilled and drained to neutral French oak barrels, retaining the lees—remember I said it's all about the complexity? Finishing with the juice fermented cool in the barrel, we brought the body and character of this rare grape to life.”
